Any Trouble - Paul Westerberg wrote this beautiful song. It’s the saddest thing I’ve heard in a while when sung by Glen Campbell. Campbell is going out in style, on top, with one more album.
Campbell will release what he’s calling his “final” album next week, “Ghost On the Canvas,” because he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. The album includes several songs he has written with the album’s producer, Julian Raymond, and others written expressly for him by Jakob Dylan, Paul Westerberg and Robert Pollard.
He’ll also be doing a farewell tour, which will include an Oct. 6 stop at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on the way to Europe in the fall and what’s planned as a broad swath of shows across the U.S. and elsewhere in the world next year and beyond.
Stars backstage First Avenue - 10/27/10. Torq Campbell of Stars dedicated “The Comeback” to The Replacements. On a music fandom geek level, backstage with Stars was up there with meeting Paul Westerberg for me, too. Although we had a much more in depth and personal experience talking with Torq, Amy and Stars. Torq talked about how much Minneapolis means to him because his parents met working at the Guthrie Theater. We talked about how when you invest in art in a community, the payback is much greater than most people realize. I can’t site the specific studies but it wasn’t just the Jameson talking.
Stars played many of our favorite songs including “Reunion”, which Campbell talked about how personal it was to him. Stars have been changing their set list up quite a bit to keep it interesting. The set we heard was pretty spot on to my wish list. I’ve seen the band live three times and this was my favorite, the best concert of the year.

Another oldie, but a goodie. FCU: Fact Checkers Unit. Catching up on my leisure reading, I finally got to the fine EW article on Bill Murray. Definitely worth a read. Why do I so love the reclusive geniuses? See also: Paul Westerberg.
